Noir Materials Inc is a recent spinoff of the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry focused on the development and commercialization of Noir Materials technology.
Noir Materials employ a bio-inspired universal compatibilization mechanism to provide cost-competitive alternatives to traditional thermoplastic composites with tunable biodegradability and breathtaking functional attributes across a broad range of commodity and high-performance applications.
_*The Opportunity*_
The Director of Business Development is responsible for market research, pipeline development, and establishment of supply agreements for the full Noir Materials portfolio of pellets and filaments.
_*Primary Responsibilities*_
Primary Responsibilities
• Understand end markets, applications and regulatory environment for the products of potential Noir Materials customers
• Perform market research to help steer strategic portfolio and pipeline development
• Provide regular updates to management team regarding business development progress, customer feedback, and opportunities for improvement
• Provide regular updates to R&D team with insights into market trends and technologies of interest to steer effective allocation of innovation resources
• Open introductory discussions with, and communicate value propositions to potential Noir Materials customers
• Secure use-tests for Noir Materials pellets and filaments at potential customer facilities
• Work in close coordination with the Noir Materials Chief Technology Officer to ensure development resources are allocated in alignment with markets and customer needs
• Working together with the Noir Materials leadership team, negotiate and close supply agreements with Noir Materials customers
• Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers
_*Qualifications*_
· Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, polymer sciences or related disciplines
· 5 – 10 years of specialty resin sales or related industry experience is preferred
· Specific experience with the sales and manufacturing of biodegradable resins and/or high-performance composite resins is a plus
· Familiarity with polymer manufacturing processes including injection molding, thermoforming, film blowing, and additive manufacturing is required
· Effective verbal and written communication to internal teams and external customers
· Willing to travel 40%+
· Ability to manage change/adaptability and demonstrate flexibility in response to changing customer and coworker needs
· Proven track record of delivering on short- and long-term business objectives
· Experience in sales management prospecting, negotiating and closing
