The Senior Account Manager - Life Sciences plays a crucial role in strategically managing and growing client accounts and drive revenue through the development of trusting relationships with BioTeam’s commercial clients.
To meet their annual revenue target, it is essential that the Senior Client Relations Director focuses on building executive-level relationships with current and potential clients.
Building client relationships requires a combination of interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and effective communication, and it begins with understanding current and future business, technology, and science needs both now and for future BioTeam projects.
To find new business opportunities, the Senior Client Relations Director will proactively find ways to engage with potential clients, such as attending trade shows and other national events.
This role will also involve helping to support contract negotiation with Legal for existing and new clients and closing deals.
As a Senior Account Manager Director - Life Sciences, you will have a background in life sciences and/or technology and also have experience in a professional services organization so that you understand client needs and how BioTeam can provide services to meet client needs.
Matching client needs to BioTeam services will require an understanding of available resources, which will happen through effective collaboration with the Client Success Manager and the Consulting Practice Areas to define and strategically develop opportunities that match our mission and skillsets.
You will also have experience in business, especially with analyzing and developing client strategies that result in not only a positive client impact, but also expanded engagement within that organization.
Understanding the competitive landscape, this person must understand BioTeam’s strengths and weaknesses compared to potential competitors and/or in-house solutions.
The Senior Account Manager - Life Sciences will also have strong interpersonal and clear, proactive, and reliable communication skills that value the client’s experience, so that you can connect the client’s problems to be solved to BioTeam’s services, and then engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
You will work closely with the Client Success Manager to seamlessly stay aligned on client needs, provide relevant and valuable proposals, monitor deadlines, and collaboratively answer questions.
BioTeam's ideal candidate for this role will also be expected to leverage their connections within the life sciences industry.
Please note this position is also eligible for sales-related bonuses.
Key Responsibilities Initiate contact with potential clients to gain a high-level understanding of their mission and identify a strategy to help the client move forward Develop and maintain account management strategies that are focused on helping our clients succeed Analyze, develop, nurture, and expand client relationships, including providing a proactive strategic vision that will lead to the client’s success and closing more business Foster genuine, transparent, and clear communication in a manner that builds trust with the client Utilize a consultative sales approach by collaborating with the client and Consulting to develop a plan that helps the client understand their strategic needs and how BioTeam can help them Develop and maintain account management strategies that aim to grow new and existing clients into multi-year, multi-million dollar, high-impact engagements by fully understanding their business (including researching their history, competitors, target audience, BioTeam’s past performance, and current challenges).
Also understand the steps involved in the client’s buying process and key roles within the organization (executive roles, main decision-makers, etc.
) Engage with clients throughout the entire lifecycle, including during project engagements (post-sale) to be a secondary ear to the CSM and help develop any new opportunities that may arise throughout engagements Participate in the drafting, revision, and finalization of proposals, along with the account team, resulting in a client-centric document that clearly describes the proposed engagement in a manner that excites the client.
The account team may include any combination of the Account Director (AD), CSM, an SME from consulting, a project manager, and representative from Contracts/Legal Work with the CSM to hear client complaints, find solutions to their issues, and maintain a positive relationship between both parties for future business ventures Coordinate with the CSM to monitor the direction of the service team and provide the highest possible level of service to the clients Propose and attend relevant trade shows/conferences where BioTeam’s prospective clients will be present, create and execute a business development plan for each event, and follow up with leads afterward Background & Experience At least 7 years’ experience managing client relationships, ideally within the Pharma/Biotech industry Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field Demonstrated success in developing lasting and trusted client relationships that lead to new business opportunities and increased revenue Understanding of budgets and financial forecasts Outgoing, easily adjusts to different situations, and able to make decisions that meets the needs of a variety of people Passionate and energetic presenter, communicator, and influencer A high degree of emotional intelligence and empathy and the ability to communicate with people from their perspective, both with colleagues and clients Strong presentation and public speaking skills Excellent organization and follow-up skills Comfortable with at least 25% overnight travel Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship Work Environment This job operates in an office environment, both in shared and home locations.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
This would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
